Win a million with Castle Lager and Bafana

Castle Lager has stood beside Bafana Bafana since 1991 - through every triumph, every heartbreak and every comeback. Now, as South Africa returns to the World Cup, there is yet another reason to celebrate.

Some relationships in South African football come and go. One has never wavered.

Castle Lager has been the official sponsor of Bafana Bafana since 1991 – more than three decades of shared passion, pride and some of the most unforgettable moments this country has ever witnessed on a football pitch.

They were there in 1996 when South Africa lifted the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil – a moment that stopped a nation and announced Bafana to the world.

They were there through the AFCON campaigns that followed – the near misses, the heartbreaks, the rebuilding years and the moments that reminded everyone why South African football matters. The third place finish at AFCON 2023 was another chapter in a story Castle has witnessed from the very beginning.

They were there on 11 June 2010 when Siphiwe Tshabalala’s thunderous left foot shook Soccer City – the roar that echoed around the world. The first goal of South Africa’s own World Cup. A moment that belongs to every South African who has ever believed in Bafana Bafana.

And now, as South Africa prepares to return to the World Cup stage for the first time since that unforgettable tournament – heading to Mexico, the United States and Canada for the 2026 FIFA World Cup – Castle Lager is standing again.

The brand’s Stand Again campaign, brought to life through a collaboration between Bananas, Retroviral, director Paul Ward and Giant Films, is not simply an advertisement.

It is a love letter to every South African football fan. Defining moments from Bafana’s history recreated with period-correct jerseys, thousands of authentic makarapas and a reimagined version of Camille Yarbrough’s 1975 classic – brought to life by Mbali Makhoba from Freshlyground alongside a local choir.

The emotional resonance is real. The loyalty is earned. And now, as Bafana prepare to face Mexico at the Estadio Azteca on 11 June, Castle Lager is giving fans one more reason to believe – with one million rand up for grabs for those who Stand Again alongside their team.

Thirty-five years of standing together. The 2026 World Cup is next.
