Durban City FC booked their place in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup group stages following a convincing 3-0 win over Mauritian side Port Louis 2000 on Sunday afternoon.
Having already secured a comfortable 3-1 victory in the first leg at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last weekend, Eric Tinkler’s side completed the job with absolute authority to seal a 6-1 aggregate triumph.
The visitors took an early lead through Gastón Sirino, who opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
Haashim Domingo then doubled his side’s advantage after 25 minutes of play at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.
Both Kyle Jurgens and Jean Lwamba came close to adding to City’s lead, but the opposition goalkeeper managed to keep the deficit at 2-0 heading into the half-time break.
It didn’t take City long to find their third goal of the match, as Ethan Brooks found the back of the net to make it 3-0 in the 52nd minute.
Lubumba then came close to finding the back of the net, and probably should have, after he ran clean through on goal and rounded the goalkeeper, but somehow failed to put the ball into an empty net in the 70th minute.
That was how it ended in Mauritius, a solid 3-0 victory on the day for Durban City, securing a comprehensive 6-1 aggregate win across the tie.
The victory means Tinkler’s side have officially qualified for this season’s group stages, while Port Louis 2000 crash out of the competition.
