The 2026 Carling Knockout Cup action continued on Sunday, with two key Last 16 fixtures taking place.
Following Saturday’s action, where Golden Arrows hammered Chippa United and Siwelele edged past Polokwane City on penalties, AmaZulu earned a narrow 1-0 win over Kruger United at the Mbombela Stadium in Sunday’s early kickoff.
Hendrick Ekstein’s 78th-minute penalty proved to be the difference for Arthur Zwane’s side on the day, booking Usuthu’s place in the last eight.
In the evening fixture, Sekhukhune United earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Richards Bay at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Chibuike Ohizu opened the scoring for Babina Noko in the 53rd minute, before Thabang Makubo doubled their advantage in the 82nd minute.
Richards Bay weren’t going down without a fight and managed to pull one back a minute later through Nqaba Xulu. However, the hosts put any hopes of a late comeback to bed, restoring their two-goal lead thanks to Bethuel Muzeu’s 88th-minute strike.
That was how it ended in Polokwane, with the hosts booking their place in the quarter-finals, while Richards Bay’s cup run came to a halt at the first hurdle.
Golden Arrows, Siwelele, AmaZulu, and Sekhukhune United have now all sealed their spots in the last eight.
The action resumes on Tuesday evening, when Orlando Pirates host Milford FC, Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Marumo Gallants, and Kaizer Chiefs host TS Galaxy in their respective Last 16 ties.
The round will close out on Wednesday night, with Durban City hosting Stellenbosch FC for the final quarter-final spot.
