Kaizer Chiefs release statement on Da Cruz’s future

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has thrown his weight behind head coach Fernando Da Cruz, insisting the club remains fully committed to the Frenchman.

Kaizer Chiefs’ top brass have come out to throw their full weight behind head coach Fernando Da Cruz despite the club’s alarming dip in form.

Amakhosi find themselves in a deep slump, having struggled to put together consistent results in the Betway Premiership while already disappointing in the MTN8 Cup.

The mounting pressure reached a boiling point when the Glamour Boys crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup, falling on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.

Naturally, the club’s CAF exit left fans furious, with questions immediately raised over their French head coach’s future at Naturena.

However, in an official statement released on the club’s website, Chiefs top boss Kaizer Motaung Jr swiftly shut down speculation surrounding Da Cruz’s job security.

“As a Club, we would like to reaffirm our full support for, and confidence in, the Head Coach and the entire technical team,” the statement read.

“They continue to have our trust as they lead the implementation of a football philosophy and development pathway that we firmly believe will bring sustainable success.”

Next up for Kaizer Chiefs is another crucial Cup clash on Tuesday evening against TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup.
