CKC Wrap: Arrows hammer Chippa, Siwelele edge past City

The 2026 Carling Knockout Cup is officially underway. Let's take a look at the opening day's results which saw two side's book their spots in the last eight.

The 2026 Carling Knockout Cup got underway on Saturday, with Golden Arrows and Siwelele advancing to the quarter-finals.

Abafana Bes’thende produced the performance of the day, dismantling Chippa United 4-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium to book their spot in the next round with absolute ease.

Goals from Junior Dion, Sabelo Sithole, Nhlanhla Zwane, and Jerome Karelse got Mandla Ncikazi’s tenure off to the best possible start.

The win means Arrows book their place in the last eight, while Chippa United’s Carling Knockout Cup journey comes to an abrupt halt.

In Saturday evening’s fixture, there was nothing to separate Polokwane City and Siwelele FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium during regulation time.

Siwelele managed to hold their nerve from 12 yards, earning a 4-3 penalty shootout victory to book their spot in the last eight.

The action continues on Sunday, where Kruger United will look to spring a major upset when they host an in-form AmaZulu FC at the Mbombela Stadium at 15:00.

Later in the evening, Sekhukhune United welcome Richards Bay FC to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
