Pollen Ndlanya struck as Bafana Bafana beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 at Newlands on this day in 1999.

The striker broke the deadlock three minutes after half time to give South Africa the advantage in the first leg of the delayed 1997 Afro-Asian Cup.

Bafana fielded a star-studded side featuring Mark Fish, John Moshoeu, Eric Tinkler and Benni McCarthy, while Quinton Fortune and Shaun Bartlett came off the bench.
