Throwback to when hosts Bafana Bafana secured a 2-1 victory over France at the 2010 Fifa World Cup at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Bongani Khumalo opned the scoring for South Africa in the 20th minute before Katlego Mphela doubled their lead in the 37th minute, but France did managed to pull a goal back through Florent Malouda but it proved a consolation goal.
Carlos Alberto Parreira’s team became the first host nation to fail to qualify for the tournament’s second round while a miserable campaign from the French came to a predictable conclusion as they also bowed out of South Africa 2010.
