Matima says the squad’s first home win of the Varsity Football season has given the group a timely lift ahead of Friday’s clash with UL. UWC beat TUT 3-2 last week to finally reward their home supporters after a difficult start to the campaign.
“Finally, we get a home win against TUT last week. The fans were crying because they wanted goals, they wanted goals. So it’s good to finally get that home win,” Matima said.

With another home fixture up next, the captain believes the win can carry the squad forward as they push for a strong finish before the knockout stages begin.
“Going forward, this will boost our confidence towards this week’s game, and we are playing at home, one last game at home before the knockout games. So the confidence is up with the boys, we’re going to take it step by step.”
