Real Madrid’s story begins with Alfredo Di Stefano, who inspired five consecutive European Cup victories in the 1950s and 60s.

Managers
One of Real Madrid’s greatest modern managers is Carlo Ancelotti, whose five Champions League titles as a manager – two with AC Milan and three with Real Madrid across two spells – cement his place in history.
Zinedine Zidane achieved something no manager has replicated – three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018.
Jose Mourinho delivered a record-breaking 100-point La Liga season in 2011-12, and is now set for a return to the Bernabeu ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Barcelona’s greatest manager is Pep Guardiola without serious debate. His four seasons from 2008 to 2012 produced 14 trophies including the sextuple in 2009 – built around Messi, Xavi and Iniesta.
Johan Cruyff’s Dream Team of the early 1990s laid the tactical foundation Guardiola later built upon. Hansi Flick has since added back-to-back La Liga titles.

Real Madrid lead in annual revenue with €1.184 billion – the highest of any football club in the world. Their La Liga squad cost limit stands at €761 million, giving them unparalleled spending power in the transfer market.
They are also valued at more than $6 billion. The redeveloped Santiago Bernabeu, generating revenue from concerts, events and premium hospitality year-round, ensures their financial advantage remains structural and long-term.
