Good news for Pirates fans, bad news for Chiefs fans

Orlando Pirates fans in South Africa are in for a treat this afternoon however, the same can't be said for Kaizer Chiefs fans.

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both in continental action today, with the Buccaneers flying the South African flag in the Champions League while the Glamour Boys are competing in the Confederation Cup.

Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side made the short journey to Botswana where they will face Namibia’s African Stars in the first leg, with the return fixture scheduled to take place in Orlando next weekend.

Kaizer Chiefs made the slightly longer journey to Zambia, where they face Red Arrows in the first leg, with the second leg taking place next weekend at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Pirates’ match to be televised, Chiefs’ not

Both matches are scheduled to get underway at 15:00. However, only the African Stars and Orlando Pirates clash is going to be televised live in South Africa, with SABC2 broadcasting the match.

As things stand, Kaizer Chiefs’ clash against Red Arrows will not be televised live in South Africa. It remains to be seen whether Amakhosi will provide a live stream for their fans to keep an eye on the eagerly anticipated match.

Victories today will be high on the agenda for both sides, with spots in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup group stages up for grabs following next weekend’s second legs.

Tomorrow, Mamelodi Sundowns are in action against Angola’s Wiliete in the Champions League with the match set to be televised live on SABC2, while Durban City face Mauritian side AS Port-Louis 2000 in the Confed Cup.
