The Premier Soccer League has confirmed a late venue change for next week’s Betway Premiership match involving Richards Bay FC and Kaizer Chiefs FC.
The Natal Rich Boys were originally scheduled to host the Glamour Boys on Wednesday, 26 August at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Now, the league has confirmed the match will actually take place at the Princess Magogo Stadium instead due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’.
Next Chiefs match moved to KwaMashu
The Princess Magogo Stadium has a capacity of just 12,000 people, which is unusually small for Kaizer Chiefs’ massive fanbase, especially in a province considered their stronghold.
Whenever Chiefs play in KwaZulu-Natal, they draw a massive home-team atmosphere that would undoubtedly be better suited to the 54,000-seater Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Nonetheless, the show will go on in KwaMashu for what is guaranteed to be a sold-out affair. Kick-off for the league fixture is scheduled for 19:30 on Wednesday evening.
Chiefs have shown signs of improvement under new coach Fernando Da Cruz this season, but fans will be desperate for another strong performance to keep pace with the leading pack.
