They arrived with a 4-0 lead from Friday’s first leg, where Ronnel Donnelly scored a hat-trick, and coach Desiree Ellis rotated accordingly. Captain Thembi Kgatlana led the line in Donnelly’s place and Kaylin Swart was in goal. Banyana wasted a string of first-half chances, including an Amogelang Motau free-kick that rattled the crossbar.
The game was decided after the break. Within a minute of the restart, Gabriela Moodaly-Salgado met a low delivery from Hildah Magaia on the left and finished at the back post.
Donnelly replaced Salgado shortly after the hour and needed only moments to get on the scoresheet, nodding Kgatlana’s delivery into the bottom corner. She added a second from close range late on, again from a Magaia cross, to take her to five goals across the two legs.
AFRICA PICKS: Football tips and predictions
The visitors were rarely in the game, and Banyana could have won by more.
Angola, who beat Namibia 2-0 on aggregate, await in the third round in February and March 2027. Banyana have not qualified for the Olympics since 2016, and only two African teams will reach Los Angeles 2028.
