Galatasaray submits bid for City goalie Ederson

Manchester City look set to part ways with long-time No.1 Ederson, as Turkish giants Galatasaray approach City with an initial bid for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

According to reports, Ederson is edging closer to a move away from the Etihad Stadium after eight successful seasons, with Galatasaray preparing to open negotiations over a transfer fee.

The 31-year-old was previously linked with a switch to the Saudi Pro League last summer but remained with City—this time, however, a departure appears more likely ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

In response, City are already lining up a replacement and have re-entered talks with Burnley to bring back academy product James Trafford. The 22-year-old shot-stopper left City for Turf Moor in 2023 without making a senior appearance, but has since blossomed into one of England’s most promising goalkeepers, impressing in the Championship last season.

Although Newcastle United had emerged as frontrunners for Trafford’s signature—with a £27 million bid rejected in June—City are now considered favourites to secure his return. The club is currently negotiating the terms of a £40 million buyback clause included in Trafford’s original move.
