Pirates ease into Carling Knockout quarter-finals

Orlando Pirates earned a convincing Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 victory over a helpless Milford side on Tuesday night at the Orlando Stadium

Orlando Pirates got their 2026 Carling Knockout title defence off to the perfect start after defeating Milford FC 3-0 on Tuesday evening at Orlando Stadium.

Fresh off their convincing 4-0 CAF Champions League win over the weekend, the Buccaneers took little time to get going once again at eSgodini.

Thapelo Mokobodi gave the hosts the lead in the 14th minute, finishing calmly into the bottom corner after being expertly played in by Tshepang Moremi.

Moremi then turned from provider to goalscorer in the 34th minute, rounding the goalkeeper before firing into an empty net from a tight angle after being played through on goal by Thalente Mbatha.

Moremi completed his brace on the stroke of half-time after finishing off a defence-splitting pass by Mpho Padime, giving his side a 3-0 lead at the break.

Padime came close to making it 4-0 in the 55th minute, but he failed to hit the target, pulling his shot just wide of the mark.

Vusumuzi Mthabela forced Sipho Chaine into a solid save in the 62nd minute with a powerful long-range strike, but the Bucs keeper was equal to the task.
