UP-Tuks and TUT have set up a Varsity Football final meeting, seeing off UJ and Wits respectively in Friday’s semi-finals.
UP-Tuks got the better of log leaders UJ at UJ Soweto Stadium, edging out a tight contest to book their place in the showpiece decider. Earlier in the day, TUT produced a similarly tight performance away at Wits Stadium, seeing off second-placed Wits by the same scoreline to complete the final line-up.
Both results mark significant achievements for the winning sides, with UP-Tuks and TUT overcoming two of the tournament’s strongest teams on their way through. Neither UJ nor Wits could find a way past well-organised opposition, as both semi-finals were decided by fine margins.
Attention now turns to the final, where UP-Tuks and TUT will battle it out for this year’s Varsity Football title.
