The 20-year-old goalkeeper was handed his first start by coach Muhsin Ertugral after an injury ruled Emile Baron out of the match.
Khune had joined the Chiefs development system in 1999 before being promoted to the senior squad in 2004. He waited three years for his opportunity, but quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

His performances helped Amakhosi finish the 2007-08 league campaign with the division’s best defensive record, conceding only 19 goals in 30 matches.
Khune also played a decisive role in Chiefs’ 2007 Telkom Knockout triumph, producing a superb performance in the penalty shootout victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
He ended his breakthrough season as the PSL Players’ Player of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season and Rookie of the Season.

Khune later captained Chiefs to a league and cup double in 2012-13 and represented Bafana Bafana at the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup.
