Mofokeng marked his first official appearance for USG by scoring the winning penalty as the Belgian club beat Club Brugge on penalties to lift the Belgian Super Cup on Friday.
Named among the substitutes at the Jan Breydel Stadium, Mofokeng watched on as Nicolo Tresoldi put Brugge ahead early in the second half. He was introduced in the 61st minute with Union chasing the game, and 16 minutes later Argentine defender Kevin Mac Allister levelled to send the match to a shootout.

Union held their nerve from twelve yards, with Canadian forward Promise David opening the scoring before Mofokeng stepped up. Brugge’s Cheveyo Tsawa was the only player to miss his kick, and Mofokeng made no mistake with the decisive spot-kick to seal a 5-4 win and hand Union their second Super Cup in three seasons.

It caps a remarkable few weeks for the 20-year-old, who joined Union on a four-year deal from Orlando Pirates after sweeping the PSL’s individual awards. He now switches focus to Champions League qualifying, with Union facing Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt on Tuesday.
