Barcelona seal La Liga title with El Clasico masterclass

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres gave Barcelona a comfortable win over Real Madrid, handing Hansi Flick's side a historic 29th La Liga title on an emotional and historic night in Catalonia.

Flick’s Barca produced a commanding 2-0 victory over Madrid at the Camp Nou to seal back-to-back La Liga titles and the first ever clinched against Real Madrid in an El Clasico. For a coach who had lost his father just hours before kick-off, it was a moment that transcended football.

Rashford opened the scoring with a sensational free kick that gave Thibaut Courtois no chance. Torres doubled the lead just minutes later, finishing clinically after a sublime touch from Dani Olmo. After 18 minutes Barcelona were 2-0 up and the Camp Nou sensed what was coming.

Real Madrid barely threatened. Joan Garcia was hardly tested all night. Vinicius Junior was completely pocketed and Jude Bellingham was anonymous. Trent Alexander-Arnold, spent the evening launching hopeful long passes that Garcia collected comfortably. Courtois kept the scoreline respectable with a string of fine saves but the result never felt in doubt.

The contrast between these two clubs is as stark as it has ever been.

While Barcelona were lifting the La Liga title with 91 points from 35 matches – 14 clear of their biggest rivals, 21 more goals scored and two fewer conceded – Real Madrid are stumbling towards the end of a season that has been a disaster from start to finish.

It began with the departure of Xabi Alonso, who lasted just seven months before being shown the door. An early exit from the UEFA Champions League has been followed by a 50-million-strong petition to sell star striker Kylian Mbappe and mess behind the scenes.

A training ground brawl between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni – Valverde leaving hospital with stitches, both players fined €500,000 each. Reports of dressing room politics, a lack of leadership and a deeply fractured squad have dominated headlines.

No Champions League. No Copa del Rey. No La Liga. A second consecutive season without silverware for a club that considers trophies an obligation.

Barcelona danced at the Camp Nou on Sunday night. Across the city, Real Madrid were left with nothing but questions and a long summer ahead.
