Mbappe leads on the assists tiebreaker after scoring in France’s 1-0 win over Paraguay, a penalty that sent Les Bleus into the quarter-finals. His tally includes a brace in the opener against Senegal. France now face Morocco in Boston on 9 July.
Lionel Messi (7 goals)
Messi became the first player to reach seven this tournament, scoring in Argentina’s 3-2 extra time win over Cape Verde. He also has a hat-trick against Algeria, a brace against Austria and a free-kick off the bench against Jordan. Argentina face Egypt in the round of 16 on 7 July.

Erling Haaland (7 goals)
Haaland drew level with a stunning brace against Brazil, heading in from 11 minutes out before adding a second from the edge of the box. Norway now face England in Miami on 11 July.
Harry Kane (6 goals)
Kane scored a second half brace to send England through against DR Congo, then added a penalty in the 3-2 win over Mexico. He faces Norway next in the quarter-final, chasing a second Golden Boot after winning in Russia 2018.
Chasing pack
Jude Bellingham moved onto four with a brace against Mexico, joining France’s Ousmane Dembele and Spain’s Mikel Oyarzabal on the same tally as the race for fifth place tightens.
Cristiano Ronaldo and USA striker Folarin Balogun both sit on three goals, with Ronaldo needing a big impact against Spain if Portugal are to go deep in the tournament.

Vinicius Junior, Ismaila Sarr and Julian Quinones all reached four goals before their teams, Brazil, Senegal and Mexico, were eliminated.
