Watch: Madrid chasing three out of three in Europe

Real Madrid host Juventus tonight at the Santiago Bernabéu as matchday 3 of the Champions League group stage resumes, with Xabi Alonso’s side looking to maintain their perfect start to the competition after victories over Olympique Marseille (2-1) and Kairat Almaty (5-0).

This fixture begins a demanding run of home games for Madrid, who have won all five at the Bernabéu this season, four in LaLiga and one in Europe. After facing Juventus, they meet Barcelona on Sunday and Valencia on 1 November.

“We’re ready and eager to secure our third Champions League win,” said head coach Xabi Alonso ahead of the match. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who could make his 300th appearance for the club, added: “We’re up against one of Europe’s strongest sides and must be focused from the start.” Kylian Mbappé will again be central to Madrid’s attack, having scored in each of his last eight appearances.

Juventus arrive in Madrid unbeaten in the Champions League group stage following high-scoring draws with Borussia Dortmund (4-4) and Villarreal (2-2). However, they come off their first league defeat of the season — a 2-0 loss to Como. Dusan Vlahovic leads their scoring charts with four goals so far this campaign.
