Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has officially departed the club following the expiration of his contract, marking the end of an eight-year tenure at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old Swedish international was among several high-profile players, including Christian Eriksen, not offered new deals for the 2025/26 season.
During his time with the Red Devils, Lindelof established himself as a reliable presence in defense, making 284 appearances across all competitions.
His service to the club was rewarded with three major trophies – the Carabao Cup and two FA Cups, cementing his place in United’s recent history.

In an emotional interview with MUTV, Lindelof reflected on his decade-long journey with the historic club: “It was a perfect ending – a clean sheet and a win in my final match. Playing for this incredible club has been an absolute honor,” said the composed center-back, who joined from Benfica in 2017.
As Lindelof prepares for the next chapter of his career, United fans will remember his consistent performances and professionalism during a transitional period for the club. The departure marks the end of an era for one of United’s longest-serving players in the post-Ferguson era.
“To spend it with my family here [on the pitch afterwards], as well, was special. So, yeah, I couldn’t have asked for a better ending.”
“Yeah, I am proud of myself,” the defender continued. “It’s been a lot of ups and downs.
“But I mean, for me to be able to represent this club for eight years, it’s been an honour and a privilege, and a dream come true.”
“I’ve had so many good memories here,” he continued. “Just looking at the Stretford End here, I mean, I’m going to miss it a lot.
“They’re [the fans] with us through absolutely everything, and it doesn’t matter the result, every single week, they come here and they support us and they sing their souls out.
“I just want to say thank you so much for taking me in.”
Though his next destination remains undecided, Victor Lindelof leaves Manchester United with two unwavering certainties: his eternal connection to the club and his bright outlook on what lies ahead.
“I’m leaving as a player, but I will always be a fan,” the defender confirmed.
“I wish nothing but the best for the guys and everyone around the club. Yeah, hopefully next season will be a little better than this one.
“I’m very sure it’s going to be.”
