Newcastle United are exploring a potential move for Benjamin Sesko, according to The Athletic, as uncertainty grows around Alexander Isak’s future.
Sesko, who signed a contract extension with RB Leipzig until 2029, was expected to fetch a fee of at least €70 million (£61m) this summer. However, interest from top clubs has cooled. Leipzig finished seventh in the Bundesliga and struggled in Europe, and Sesko, despite his talent, did not significantly boost his reputation.
Newcastle have long tracked the 21-year-old forward, having first made a move in 2022. Though they did not pursue a deal in the years since, Isak’s desire to leave has prompted a change in stance. Newcastle may now revive their interest, especially as other suitors have moved on.

Arsenal had tracked Sesko closely but pivoted to Viktor Gyokeres, while Manchester United’s interest dates back to when Sesko was 16 and playing for Domzale. They were outbid by Red Bull Salzburg in 2019, which led to his move into the Red Bull system.
Al Hilal have also made enquiries, though it’s unclear how serious their approach is. AC Milan remain interested but lack the funds to compete in a bidding war. Newcastle could now be in pole position.
