Mudryk faces four-year doping ban

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association for alleged anti-doping rule violations and faces a potential four-year ban.

According to the Telegraph, the Ukrainian tested positive for meldonium, a prohibited performance-enhancing substance, in a sample provided last year. While he was provisionally suspended pending the results of a B sample, the FA has now confirmed formal charges under its anti-doping regulations.

In a statement issued in December, Mudryk said the news “came as a complete shock” and insisted he had “never knowingly used any banned substances.” He also stated that he had not changed any of his routines since testing negative in August 2023.

Mudryk has not featured for Chelsea since November and has been barred from training with the squad under the terms of his suspension. He watched the team’s Europa Conference League final from the stands and recently saw his number 10 shirt handed to Cole Palmer.

The 24-year-old is being represented by Morgan Sports Law, the same firm that helped Paul Pogba reduce his doping ban from four years to 18 months.

The case remains under review, with the FA stating it is unable to comment further at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
