According to the Premier League, the award, sponsored by the league’s official banking partner Barclays, is presented to the player judged to have made the most significant contribution after joining a new club during the 2025/26 campaign.

Lammens arrived from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp on Transfer Deadline Day and quickly became one of United’s most influential performers. The goalkeeper played a pivotal role in helping the club finish third in the Premier League standings, securing their best league finish since the 2022/23 season and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Belgian international was a consistent presence between the posts during a campaign that featured major changes behind the scenes, including a managerial switch. Despite the uncertainty, United recovered strongly in the second half of the season to secure a place among Europe’s elite clubs once again.
Across 32 league appearances, Lammens helped United collect 64 points from 18 victories and 10 draws, while suffering only four defeats. He also made 79 saves and recorded eight clean sheets.

Among his most memorable performances was the 2-0 Manchester derby triumph over Manchester City. Reflecting on the occasion, Lammens described it as “one of the best, if not the best game I’ve been part of, just in every facet”.
Supporters voted the 23 year old as the winner of the award ahead of a shortlist featuring Dominic Calvert Lewin of Leeds United, Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo of Manchester City, Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, AFC Bournemouth defender Adrien Truffert and Sunderland midfielder Granit Xhaka.
