Current season – 2025-26
Haaland has scored 111 Premier League goals in 131 appearances at Manchester City, including 26 this season.
He has also scored 57 Champions League goals in just 58 appearances – the most prolific record in the competition’s history relative to games played.
Mbappe has contributed 55 La Liga goals in 62 Real Madrid appearances and 70 Champions League goals across 98 appearances in total.
This season he has contributed 41 goals across all competitions despite missing significant time through injury and the off-field chaos that has defined Real Madrid’s campaign.
Best individual season
Haaland’s 2022-23 debut campaign at Manchester City remains one of the most dominant individual seasons in football history.
36 Premier League goals in 35 appearances. 52 across all competitions as City won the treble. He broke Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer’s long-standing record of 34 goals in a single Premier League season – and did so in a 38-game season. Both Cole and Shearer set their records in 42-game campaigns, meaning they had four additional matches to reach their tallies. Haaland surpassed them with games to spare in a shorter season. The numbers put his achievement into a different category entirely.
Mbappe’s finest season came in 2021-22 at PSG – 39 goals and 21 assists in a single campaign, 60 goal involvements in total.
Trophies
Haaland has won 13 major titles – two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, an EFL Cup, a Club World Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and a DFB-Pokal with Dortmund.
Mbappe has 23 career titles – seven Ligue 1 championships, five Coupe de France, a World Cup and a UEFA Nations League among them.
The glaring omission from Mbappe’s collection is the Champions League. Despite multiple attempts with PSG and Real Madrid, Europe’s biggest prize has eluded him. That changes the conversation.

International
Mbappe won the World Cup at 19 with France in 2018 and is his country’s all-time record scorer. He arrives at the 2026 World Cup as one of the tournament’s biggest favourites.
Haaland will finally make his major international tournament debut at the 2026 World Cup after Norway qualified with a perfect eight-win campaign. Despite scoring at a remarkable rate for his country, Norway failed to qualify for Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 – meaning the 25-year-old has never previously appeared at a major international tournament. That changes this summer.
The numbers are there – the debate is yours.
