Manchester City have agreed a £34million fee with Lyon for attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki as part of their push to complete four signings before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, according to The Times.
The 21-year-old, who can operate centrally or out wide, registered 12 goals and 20 assists across all competitions last season. He also scored on his France debut in a 5-4 defeat to Spain last week.
City are looking to strengthen their midfield options following the departure of Kevin De Bruyne, and Cherki’s arrival adds to their attacking depth.
This short transfer window, which opened on June 1 and closes at 7pm on Tuesday, allows Club World Cup teams to register new players ahead of the tournament’s June 15 start.
City’s spending in this window has now passed £111million, with deals already completed for Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves and Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.
