Barcelona agree deal to sign Rodri

Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri from Manchester City, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The deal has received his trademark “here we go” confirmation, with City reportedly accepting Barcelona’s latest offer for the former Ballon d’Or winner.

Further details regarding the transfer fee and the length of Rodri’s proposed contract have yet to be revealed. The 30-year-old is now set to leave City after seven hugely successful seasons in England.

Rodri joined the Premier League club from Atletico Madrid in 2019 and became a central figure under Pep Guardiola. His most memorable contribution came in the 2023 Champions League final, when he scored the winning goal against Inter Milan to complete City’s historic treble.

The midfielder was later awarded the 2024 Ballon d’Or after helping Spain win Euro 2024.

His arrival would represent a major statement from Barcelona as they strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.

An official announcement is expected once Rodri completes the remaining formalities of the move.
