Since arriving in 2020, Jeremie Frimpong has established himself as an indispensable force on Bayer Leverkusen’s right flank.
The 23-year-old Dutch international combines explosive pace, technical brilliance, and relentless energy to devastating effect – making him arguably Europe’s most exciting wing-back today.
Frimpong’s contributions extend far beyond defensive duties. His 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions last season ranked among the Bundesliga’s elite, while his ability to create chances (2.3 key passes per 90 minutes in 2023/24) transformed Leverkusen into one of Germany’s most dangerous attacking sides. The flying fullback also chipped in with crucial goals, including memorable strikes against Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.
The crowning achievement came in 2023/24 when Frimpong played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga triumph, their first-ever Meisterschale. His marauding runs and pinpoint crosses were instrumental in Xabi Alonso’s system, with his 2,266 minutes played ranking among the squad’s highest totals.
This season, despite Leverkusen’s inability to defend their league title, Frimpong has been instrumental across competitions, netting five goals and assisting 12. The Dutch international is currently rumoured to replace the departing Liverpool wing-back Trent Alexander-Arnold who is reportedly set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next season.
