Jamal Musiala has revealed he is being treated for “treatable absence seizures” linked to a neurological condition, after collapsing on the pitch for the second time in four days.
The 23-year-old went down just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute in Bayern Munich’s friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday, having experienced a similar incident four days earlier in a game against RB Leipzig.
Players from both sides formed a circle around him as he received treatment before being helped off the pitch.

Musiala addressed the situation directly in a statement posted to Instagram, saying he wanted to “put those concerns to rest” and explain what had happened.
He described the episodes as brief, temporary seizures resulting from a neurological issue, adding that while they might look alarming, they are currently part of his everyday life.
He stressed there is no further health risk, and said he is receiving strong medical care with the full support of Bayern Munich and those close to him.
The Germany international said the decision to continue playing was his own, made in close consultation with medical experts who had cleared him to do so, and that returning to football and chasing trophies with his team was central to his recovery.
He also asked for privacy on further details, saying he intends to share the matter only with his closest circle, the club and his medical team.

Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed the club had been aware of the situation, saying Musiala would address it in his own time.
The winger, who broke his leg last summer in a Club World Cup match against PSG, was a key figure for Germany at this year’s World Cup before their surprise round-of-32 exit to Paraguay. Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s German Super Cup.
