Turkiye’s Trabzonspor closing in on Mo Salah

Mohamed Salah has entered negotiations with Turkish club Trabzonspor with the forward expected to fly into Istanbul before travelling on to meet the club in person.

Salah left Liverpool this summer following a nine-year spell at Anfield that brought the Champions League and two Premier League titles.

He finished his time at the club as its third all-time top scorer, with 257 goals in 442 appearances, and sits fourth on the Premier League’s all-time scoring list with 193 goals, 191 of them for Liverpool, behind only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.

The 34-year-old endured a difficult final season on Merseyside, managing just seven league goals as Liverpool struggled to fifth.

He last featured at the World Cup, where Egypt reached the knockout stage for the first time since 1934 before letting a two-goal lead slip in a painful defeat to eventual runners-up Argentina.

Talks with Istanbul rivals Besiktas broke down earlier over financial and image rights disagreements, opening the door for Trabzonspor, who finished third in the Süper Lig last season and are looking to strengthen their squad for a title challenge.
