Mosimane officially launched The Youth Football Coaching Manual in Sandton on Thursday. It is designed to equip coaches with the knowledge and tools needed to develop young players technically, physically, mentally and socially.
The manual contains 15 chapters and more than 20 ready-to-use training sessions. It covers age-specific coaching, tactical understanding, game intelligence, mentorship and the role parents can play in a footballer’s development.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and SAFA president Danny Jordaan were among the football and government officials who attended the launch.
“South African football doesn’t have a talent problem. It has a development challenge,” Mosimane said.
The project comes more than a decade after Mosimane’s first spell as Bafana Bafana coach ended in 2012.
He has since won five league titles and the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns, before lifting two more continental crowns with Al Ahly. Coaching spells in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iran further expanded his experience.

Mosimane has applied to succeed Hugo Broos as Bafana coach. Whatever SAFA decides, his manual ensures his knowledge can already reach the coaches responsible for South Africa’s next generation.
