Tau joined Nam Dinh in August 2025 on a free transfer after leaving Qatar SC, with the club viewing the experienced forward as a key signing for their AFC Champions League campaign.
The 32-year-old made 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing four assists before the club confirmed his departure on Thursday.
“Thank you for your contributions, Percy Tau. Wishing you success and good luck on your journey ahead,” Nam Dinh said in a brief statement.
Blom’s spell at the club was even more difficult. The 26-year-old joined Nam Dinh after a loan spell at Kaizer Chiefs from MLS side St. Louis City SC but sustained an injury before the season began. He was de-registered during the first transfer window and departed without making a single competitive appearance.
The releases form part of a major squad overhaul at Nam Dinh following an underwhelming 2025-26 campaign. The club finished mid-table in the V.League and failed to advance from their AFC Champions League group after finishing third in Group F.
With Vietnamese league regulations limiting clubs to four foreign players, Nam Dinh released five overseas players in total – including Brazilians Walber Mota and Caique Santos, and Kyle Hudlin.
Both Tau and Blom are now free agents ahead of the upcoming season. Tau, who has previously represented Brighton, Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, remains an experienced option at club level despite the disappointing Vietnamese stint.
Blom, still only 26, will be looking to find regular first-team football after a frustrating period disrupted by injury.
