Vodacom, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have launched the greatest fan experience in the history of South African football, with a spectacular FlySafair Boeing 737-800 flyover at the Soweto Derby kicking off the historic Vodacom Tsamaya Pre-Season Fan Tour to reward 10 loyal fans with a place on the teams’ pre-season tours to Europe this July.
The double flyover of a FlySafair Boeing 737-800 at the FNB Stadium – a first for South African football and at the biggest and most passionately-supported game in African football – set a bold tone for this new annual fan experience that is going to be unlike any other in the history of the local game.
The Vodacom Tsamaya Pre-Season Fan Tour is Vodacom’s biggest reward of its loyal football subscribers, with five Orlando Pirates fans and five Kaizer Chiefs fans winning a once-in-a-lifetime experience to live their passion for football like never before. They will tour with their teams to Europe, spending time in camp with the players, attending their training sessions and friendly matches, and meeting their heroes as they prepare for the new season.
“From the silky smooth tsamayas on the field, to a plane full of dreams flying off to European fields making sure that fans tsamaya with their teams, we are making our biggest football move in the history of our own beautiful game,” said Michelle van Eyden, Vodacom Head of Sponsorship.
“Vodacom’s passion for South African football shines through in our longstanding partnerships with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, and the Vodacom Tsamaya Pre-Season Fan Tour is all about us giving even more of our heart for football to the loyal fans. Today, on one of the biggest stages in world football, we came together as Vodacom, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and FlySafair to do something for the fans that has never been done before.”
Only Vodacom customers who purchase any Vodacom products for R49 or more will qualify for a fan experience that has never been done before in South African football. “The more you buy the bigger your chances of winning,” said Van Eyden.
This will also be the first time in the history of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs that fans will join them on their pre-season tours and be given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the new goals and visions of South Africa’s most loved football clubs.
“The Vodacom Tsamaya Pre-Season Fan Tour is going to be a truly special moment in the history of Kaizer Chiefs as we bring our fans into the heart of our pre-season preparations for the first time. Doing this with Vodacom, a partner that for so long has been at the heart of our club through their own passion for Kaizer Chiefs, makes it even more significant,” said Jessica Motaung of Kaizer Chiefs.
It is a feeling echoed by Mpumi Khoza of Orlando Pirates. “Our fans are central to who we are as a football club and Vodacom has always understood this. To bring this together in something as unique as the Vodacom Tsamaya Pre-Season Fan Tour and to be able to keep showing our fans just how important they are to our club is a privilege and something we’re all very excited about.”
This is the greatest fan moment in South African football – from the fields of Mzansi to the stadiums of Europe. This is where Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs fans are able to show up, shout out and shut it down with something never seen in the local game.
The Vodacom Tsamaya Pre-Season Fan Tour is the chance for every fan to “Make your move and WIN!”
Fans can enter through any of the Vodacom social media platforms before the competition closes on 15 June 2025.
