The PSL’s two most prominent football rivals, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, prepare for decisive fixtures in their respective CAF competitions this weekend.
Both teams enter crucial second-leg encounters that could determine the course of their continental seasons and restore a measure of national pride.
Orlando Pirates brace for decisive week
Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs face pivotal fixtures in their respective CAF campaigns this weekend. Pirates return to Orlando Stadium seeking to overturn a 3–0 deficit against Saint-Éloi Lupopo, while Chiefs aim to build on their goalless first leg against AS Simba.
According to Betway, the Buccaneers are firm favourites to win at 1.24, with a draw at 5.41 and a Lupopo victory at 9.87.
With Orlando Stadium hosting the decisive leg of the Buccaneers’ continental journey, Pirates will look to replicate the performance that saw them score four unanswered goals against Lioli in the previous round.
Their strong home form adds optimism ahead of the must-win fixture, having recorded seven consecutive wins across all competitions. The most recent came in midweek, when they edged Polokwane City 1–0 in a tightly contested Premiership match.
Several regular starters were rested during that game, suggesting potential changes for Saturday’s clash, with Deon Hotto and Tshegofatso Mabasa among those expected to return to the lineup.

Kaizer Chiefs host AS Simba following a 0–0 draw in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie. Betway lists Chiefs as 2.30 favourites, with both the draw and Simba win priced at 3.00.
Amakhosi, who will be playing their first continental game at the Dobsonville stadium in 11 years will be confident of moving on in the competition. This will be Chiefs’ sixth game against a team from Central Africa with a record overall of two wins, two draws, with one loss.
Amakhosi will be in search of two goals to take them to a century in African club competition.
