Sekhukhune test awaits dominant Sundowns

The Betway Premiership enters Round 10 with Mamelodi Sundowns looking to tighten their grip on top spot, while the race below them continues to heat up.

Sundowns remain in control after a commanding 4-1 win over Richards Bay extended their lead to 21 points from ten matches. Sekhukhune United trail by a single point but have a game in hand, setting up a key meeting between the league’s top two.

Orlando Pirates sit third on 15 points, with three games in hand on the champions, while Kaizer Chiefs are fifth, level on points with Pirates but searching for consistency.

Round 9 saw mixed results for the chasing pack. Pirates beat TS Galaxy 2-0, Chiefs were held 1-1 by AmaZulu, as Sundowns continued their relentless run. Durban City impressed with a 3-1 win over Magesi, while Golden Arrows cruised past Orbit College 3-0. Chippa United and Stellenbosch played out a goalless draw, leaving Chippa stuck in the relegation zone alongside Magesi, both on six points.

The spotlight now turns to the clash between Sekhukhune and Sundowns, a meeting that could reshape the title race. The defending champions are 1.63 favourites on Betway, with Sekhukhune priced at 5.50, and a draw at 3.10.

Kaizer Chiefs host Siwelele as they look to climb ito the top four, while Orlando Pirates face Polokwane City in Soweto, aiming to close the six-point gap to the summit.

Elsewhere, Richards Bay (2.20) will back themselves against Orbit College (3.50), and AmaZulu (2.45) meet Durban City (3.00) in a balanced mid-table fixture. Relegation-threatened Magesi (5.50) face a tough test against TS Galaxy (1.72). Marumo Gallants (2.30) take on Chippa United (3.30), while Stellenbosch and Golden Arrows close the weekend in an evenly matched contest.

With the title race beginning to take shape and the bottom clubs scrambling for form, Round 10 promises another pivotal weekend in the Premiership campaign.
