AmaZulu climbed into the Betway Premiership’s top eight with a late 1–0 derby victory over Durban City at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, while Magesi completed a 2-1 comeback win over TS Galaxy.
Taariq Fielies scored the decisive goal in the 87th minute to hand Usuthu their first win in three matches and lift them to seventh on the table, level on 15 points with City.
AmaZulu entered the clash looking to build on their 1–1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs before the international break, while City sought to maintain momentum after defeating Magesi 3–1 in their previous league outing.
The visitors created the first chance in the eighth minute when Kyle Jurgens fired a free kick over the bar. City goalkeeper Darren Keet then denied Thabiso Kutumela’s header midway through the first half, before Samkelo Maseko forced Darren Johnson to tip his effort onto the woodwork at the other end.
Hendrick Ekstein spurned a good opening in the 27th minute after breaking through on goal, but Keet made a strong save to keep the scores level.
City began the second half on the front foot, with Koapeng narrowly missing the target on 52 minutes following a well-worked move. Despite enjoying sustained possession, they struggled to create clear opportunities against a disciplined AmaZulu defence.
As the match approached a stalemate, Fielies rose highest to meet Nkosikhona Radebe’s cross with a header three minutes from time, sealing a hard-fought win for Arthur Zwane’s side.
Magesi secured their third victory of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign with a well-earned 2–1 comeback win over TS Galaxy at Seshego Stadium on Saturday, climbing out of the relegation zone in the process.
The result continues Magesi’s impressive home run, with Dikwena tša Meetse losing just once in their last 13 league matches at Seshego. TS Galaxy, by contrast, have hit a poor patch of form, suffering back-to-back league defeats and three consecutive away losses, slipping to eighth in the standings.
After a first half in which Magesi created several openings but failed to capitalise, Galaxy took the lead on 65 minutes. A Puso Dithejane free kick found Mahlambi unmarked at the far post, and he headed home his fifth league goal of the season.
The hosts responded six minutes later. Galaxy failed to clear a corner, and Nkanyiso Zungu recycled possession with a cross to the back post, where Lehlogonolo Hlogi Mokone equalised with a header.
Magesi completed the turnaround in the 81st minute, punishing Galaxy on the counter. Edmore Chirambadare’s cross picked out Thabang Sibanyoni, who slotted home his first goal for the club.
The visitors pushed for a late equaliser in stoppage time, but Mehdi Ouamri’s cross towards Junior Zindoga was dealt with by the Magesi defence.
The win lifts Magesi to 13th on the log, while Galaxy face growing pressure after a dip in form. Both clubs now turn their focus to the Carling Knockout. Magesi travel to Orlando Stadium to face Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinals on 28 October, while Galaxy meet Lamontville Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium next Sunday.
