Pirates needed extra time to see off 10-man Durban City 2-1, Ghampani Lungu scoring a late winner to keep their bid for a fifth successive title alive.
Sundowns also required extra time, beating Polokwane City 3-2 at Lucas Moripe Stadium thanks to a decisive goal from returning forward Cassius Mailula.
Sekhukhune United booked their spot with a seven-goal thriller against AmaZulu, eventually winning 4-3 in extra time through Vuyo Letlapa.
The weekend’s biggest shock came as 15-time winners Kaizer Chiefs were eliminated by Golden Arrows, Khulekani Shezi’s 53rd-minute strike proving the difference.
