Zakhele Lepasa has joined Siwelele FC following his release from Orlando Pirates at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
Orlando Pirates’ let go of Lepasa following the exit of coach Jose Riveiro last season and was left without a club by the start of the new Betway Premiership campaign.
The 28-year-old forward, who became a free agent after limited involvement with the Buccaneers, will now continue his career with a club seeking stability in the league.
Lepasa’s transfer follows a collapsed move to newly promoted Durban City. Negotiations between the player and the KwaZulu-Natal side failed to reach agreement despite public interest from head coach Gavin Hunt.

The move strengthens Siwelele FC’s attacking options, with Lepasa becoming one of several new arrivals during the current window.
Kaizer Chiefs midfielders Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane have both joined the club on season-long loans, while Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu was signed from Sekhukhune United.

For Lepasa, the switch represents an opportunity to revive his career after five seasons in which he did not establish himself as a regular in the Pirates’ squad. His role at Siwelele FC will depend on how quickly he integrates into a squad already undergoing significant changes.
