Just a week after securing Asenele Velebayi from Cape Town Spurs, Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Luke Baartman on a free transfer.
Baartman was officially declared a free agent on Tuesday by the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber, following a contested attempt by Chiefs to bring him in without a transfer fee.
“We’re delighted to welcome Luke to the team,” said Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. “He’s an exciting young talent we’ve tracked closely over the past few seasons, from his performances at club level and the Bayhill Cup—where he was named Player of the Tournament—to his time with the U-17 national team at AFCON.”
Baartman was unveiled as Amakhosi’s ninth signing of the season Tuesday evening folloing the club’s win over Richards Bay in the Betway Premiership.
