CANAL+ meets PSL over future of SA football

CANAL+ Group executives recently met with the Premier Soccer League to strengthen ties between the broadcaster and one of Africa’s biggest domestic leagues amid the company’s growing investment in local football.

According to Supersport, the discussions formed part of CANAL+’s long term drive to improve its local content offering, with senior executives meeting PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza.

The PSL and MultiChoice partnership dates back to 2007, with SuperSport helping elevate the league’s broadcast quality through live coverage, documentaries, magazine shows and digital content.

Dr Khoza highlighted the league’s cultural significance in South Africa, insisting every PSL fixture carries importance beyond stadium attendance because of its impact on the wider title race and national conversation.

CANAL+ Sports Content Director Rendani Ramovha also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to local football, describing the PSL as one of the group’s most important and valuable content partners across the continent.
