Betway Premiership Wrap: Chiefs go top, Pirates drop points!

Kaizer Chiefs maintained their winning start in the Betway Premiership while defending champions Orlando Pirates dropped points on Wednesday night.

The Betway Premiership action continued in full swing on Wednesday night as four exciting fixtures took place to conclude game-week two.

In Johannesburg, Kaizer Chiefs welcomed Sekhukhune United to the FNB Stadium. Following a goalless first half at the Calabash, Luke Baartman broke the deadlock for the Glamour Boys in the 63rd minute after expertly finishing Dillon Solomons’ cross off into the bottom corner.

Mduduzi Shabalala then sealed the victory in the 84th minute after latching onto a superb through ball by Siphesihle Ndlovu and finishing beyond Toaster Nsabata. That’s how it ended at the Calabash, 2-0 to Chiefs who return to the top of the table.

Elsewhere in Durban, AmaZulu welcomed Orlando Pirates to the Kings Park stadium. The Buccaneers got off to a flying start after Tshepang Moremi gave the visitors the lead in the 7th minute after finishing home from close range.

Usuthu, however leveled matters on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot through Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya following a clumsy Kamogelo Sebelebele foul in the box. There were no further goals in Durban with both teams settling for a point.

Milford picked up their first victory in the top flight thanks to Menzi Chili’s solitary goal in the 77th minute against Siwelele FC at the Richards Bay Stadium. Lastly, the KwaZulu-Natal derby between Durban City and Golden Arrows ended in a goalless stalemate.

Wednesday night results in full:

Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 Sekhukhune United

AmaZulu 1-1 Orlando Pirates

Milford FC 1-0 Siwelele FC

Durban City 0-0 Golden Arrows
