Mamelodi Sundowns booked their place in this season’s MTN8 final after defeating Golden Arrows 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
The Brazilians headed to KwaZulu Natal with the stern test of overturning their 1-0 first-leg loss against a dangerous Arrows side.
Cassius Mailula brought them back in the tie in the 31st minute with a well taken finish following some delicate interplay with Marcelo Allende in the box.
Golden Arrows however levelled matters, and took the aggregate lead again, in the 68th minute after Junior Dion finished off at the back-post.
Sundowns then managed to turn the tie on its head by taking the lead, and scoring an all-important second away goal in the 77th minute through Marcelo Allende’s swift finish in the box.
Antonio Van Wyk then made it 3-1 in the 85th minute with a wicked strike from range. And just when we thought we’ve seen it all, Philani Khumalo pulled one back for Arrows in the 93rd minute.
There were no further goals in the tie, with Mamelodi Sundowns walking away with a stunning 3-2 win on the day. They managed to progress to the final courtesy of the away goal rule following a 3-3 on aggregate scoreline.
Sundowns will now face Orlando Pirates in the 2026 MTN8 final. Further details regarding the date and venue will be revealed in due course.
