Pirates hammer Kruger, City and Stellies share the spoils

The Betway Premiership returned on Tuesday evening with two interesting fixtures, here's how the action played out!

Orlando Pirates picked up their fifth win on the bounce thanks to a remarkable performance against a rather helpless Kruger United.

A Yanele Mbuthuma brace coupled with an early Ghampani Lungu penalty and a Boitumelo Radiopane strike earned Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side a 4-0 victory at the Mbombela Stadium.

The win means the Buccaneers move three points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the log standings, however the Brazilians have a game in hand which will be played tomorrow night.

Elsewhere in KwaZulu Natal, Durban City and Stellenbosch played out to a goalless draw at the Chatsworth Stadium. The draw means City end the night in 6th place on the log standings while Stellenbosch sit in 10th place, with five points from as many games.

Orlando Pirates will only play their next Betway Premiership fixture on 16 September 2025, when they host Durban City.

Now, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side will turn their attention to the CAF Champions League for their two-legged preliminary round tie against Mauritius side La Cure Waves.
