Bafana Bafana star Mbekezeli Mbokazi has landed an epic new deal with Barloworld Equipment, turning his famous “TLB” fan nickname into a major marketing campaign.
The 20-year-old Chicago Fire star has been rewarded for his consistent performances on the field of play by the industrial giants.
Mbokazi originally made a name for himself at Orlando Pirates after graduating to their first team at the end of 2024. His impressive performances as a teenager at the club prompted the Bucs faithful to give him the nickname ‘TLB’.
Named after the heavy-duty yellow machines used in construction, the nickname stuck due to his uncompromising, hard-tackling defensive style. He’s indeed relentless in defense.
Now, fresh off a successful World Cup campaign where he emerged as one of Hugo Broos’ standout performers, the young defender has been unveiled as the Barloworld’s newest brand ambassador.

Mbokazi is currently ruled out of action with a thigh injury and is set to miss the next few months of competitive action for his side Chicago Fire in the MLS.
So far, he has 54 professional club appearances to his name, 40 of which came at Pirates while 14 came at Fire.
