Broos demands ruthless Bafana against Cameroon

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has warned there will be no room for sentiment when South Africa face Cameroon in their Africa Cup of Nations last-16 clash in Rabat on Sunday night.

According to the Sunday Times, Broos admitted his side fell short of expectations during the group stages but insists they are ready to show their true quality when it matters most. The Belgian believes improved focus and intensity will be key against a physically imposing Cameroon outfit.

South Africa qualified for the knockout stages after mixed group-stage performances, and Broos acknowledged that complacency may have crept into the squad following a strong run of results before the tournament. However, he said what he has seen at training this week gives him confidence that a different Bafana will take the field.

Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena echoed that confidence, highlighting the leadership within the squad and stressing that the team has returned to basics as they aim to keep their tournament alive.
