Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams dies aged 25

South African football is mourning the death of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams at the age of 25.

According to iDiski Times, news of Adams’ passing emerged on Saturday morning. Further details surrounding his death have yet to be made public, with an official statement still expected.

Adams was part of Hugo Broos’ Bafana squad at the recent 2026 Fifa World Cup, where South Africa reached the knockout stages for the first time in the men’s national team’s history.

He featured three times during the tournament despite suffering a devastating personal loss when his grandmother died shortly before Bafana faced Czechia.

After returning from the World Cup, Adams spent time in Stellenbosch before he was due to report for pre-season preparations with Sundowns.

The talented midfielder developed through Stellenbosch FC’s academy and established himself as one of the country’s leading young players before completing a move to Sundowns in January 2025.

SoccerMag extends its heartfelt condolences to Adams’ family, friends, teammates and everyone connected to Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns. South African football has lost a gifted player far too soon.
