South Africa face Panama at DHL Stadium in Cape Town in the second match of their international friendly series, following a 1-1 draw in Durban.
Panama took the lead through Yoel Bárcenas before Oswin Appollis equalised early in the second half. Bafana Bafana controlled much of the contest, finishing with 64% possession and creating more chances, but lacked efficiency in front of goal.
Hugo Broos’ side have shown consistency in recent friendlies, though results across all competitions remain mixed. The focus in Cape Town will be on converting chances after failing to turn control into a win in Durban.
AFRICA PICKS: Football tips and predictions
Panama arrive with less stable friendly form but remain competitive in official fixtures, having gone unbeaten in their World Cup qualifying group. They were disciplined in the first meeting and capitalised on limited opportunities.
Team news sees South Africa without Siyabonga Ngezana and Fiacre Ntwari. Appollis is expected to start again, while Lyle Foster remains under scrutiny after missed chances. Panama welcome back José Córdoba and Adalberto Carrasquilla.
Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has backed Lyle Foster amid criticism.
“Lyle is a big boy… eventually the ball will go in the back of the net,” Williams said.
He added: “We need him in good spirits… support him in good and bad moments, because he will score goals.”
