Bafana, Banyana unveil stylish 2026 World Cup kit

Adidas and SAFA have revealed South Africa’s 2026/27 home jersey, a modern tribute to the iconic 2010 design and the nation’s 12 official languages.

The new design draws inspiration from the iconic 2010 World Cup strip, widely regarded as one of the most recognisable jerseys in South African football history. While rooted in that legacy, the updated version introduces a modern silhouette and refined detailing aimed at reflecting the current era of the national teams.

The jersey retains the traditional yellow base with green trim – colours long associated with national pride. However, the standout feature is a reimagined tribute to South Africa’s 12 official languages. Subtle graphic elements woven into the fabric symbolise unity and diversity, echoing the spirit once represented by the 11 lines inside the collar of the 2010 design.

“The iconic adidas SAFA jersey of the 2010 World Cup had a distinctive reference to the diverse national languages of South Africa,” said Tom Brown, Senior Marketing Director for adidas South Africa. “This design is re-imagined for a proud new era, with a pattern that reflects the now 12 national languages on the national jersey.”

SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao emphasised the significance of the launch for both senior national teams. Banyana Banyana are set to debut the kit at WAFCON 2026 in Morocco, while Bafana Bafana will wear it at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, beginning with their opening match against Mexico.

The jersey has been developed with adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ technology, featuring engineered stretch fabrics and 3D body mapping to enhance ventilation and breathability. Perforated three-stripe panels and mesh zones improve airflow, while the authentic version includes a lenticular heat-applied federation crest and adidas logo.

The away kit will be revealed on 19 March, with the home jersey available from 20 March at adidas stores, online and selected retailers.
