Pirates jet off to Zambia to continue pre-season

The Orlando Pirates squad have flown out to Zambia, where they will continue their preparations for the new season.

The camp concluded with a practice match against a local club, offering both Micho Sredojevic and Rhulani Mokwena the first chance to see their new players in a match situation.

The Buccaneers will be based in Ndola, where they have scheduled more friendlies to allow the coaching staff to assess the squad’s condition thoroughly.

Speaking to the club’s official website about the trip, Sredojevic said: ‘We are in the building phase of our pre-season. This is the stage where we lay down the foundation for the season that lies ahead.

‘We had a successful trip to Nelspruit where we got to blend the old and new players together, and now we are off to Zambia where we’ll continue to strengthen all departments by exposing them to different playing conditions and of course stronger opposition,’ the Serbian concluded.
