Rooney: United players are selfish babies

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney accused the club’s players of being selfish and refusing to take responsibility following their dismal performance against Como.

The former England captain admitted he was left in shock by United’s display and said he was more worried about the situation at Old Trafford than he had been for a long time.

Speaking on the United Stand podcast, Rooney criticised Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes for their recent comments, accusing them of shifting blame rather than taking responsibility on the pitch.

He likened the players to babies throwing their toys out of the pram, suggesting they cared more about themselves than their teammates, manager or supporters.

Rooney also questioned Fernandes’ attitude amid a dip in form and called on the United board to clarify Michael Carrick’s future, urging his former teammate to come out fighting ahead of Sunday’s clash with Bournemouth.
